Wool
Wool is a protein based animal product made from the hair fibres of various animals but most commonly sheep. IT IS A NATURAL FIBRE.CHARACTERISTICS
- Excellent wrinkle resistance and elasticity.
- Exceptional absorbency; holds a lot of moisture before it feels damp.
- Traps air in fibres, providing great warmth.
- Can be treated to resist insects, shrinkage and stains.
- Can be permanently creased or pleated.
- Does not attract static so will not attract dust or dirt.
- Different grades from the many varieties of sheep are blended to provide a large variety of weights and construction. Can also be blended with other fibres.
- Will shrink and pill if not treated.
- Many wool-based fabrics are dry-cleaned because wool weakens and stretches when wet. However, some are hand or gentle machine washable.
- If washed, it is usually best to lay it out flat to dry.
- To avoid damage to the fabric, press on the wrong side using a moderate heat and press cloth.
- Avoid bleaches.
- Avoid heat when drying, and do not tumble dry unless care instructions allow.
- Can be moulded or eased in to give a perfect fit.
- Generally sews and cuts well.
